Wedding Bells

Hello you 🙂 So lovely to see you again.

I have some excellent news…my lovely sister, Miss S, has got engaged! So, in honour of her planning the wedding I thought I’d show you all some lovely wedding stuff that makes me smile.

This indian wedding cake is amazing!

I love this shot of the lace dress.

Dresses from 1861

Dont forget flowers! I like bright ones 🙂

Some great ideas for homemade wedding favours.

And of course, a gorgeous knitted shawl…I could make that, I’m sure.

Congratulations to you both!

Lots of Love,

The Lovely Fair

Hello you 🙂

I’m sorry it’s been a while…but here I am, and I’ll make up for it now I promise!

My very lovely sister has organised a craft fair!

It will be taking place on Saturday 15th October 2011 at St Francis church hall in south Bristol.

Please have a look at her website for more detail about the fair and how to book a stall if you are interested.

Lovely! Craft Fair

The fair will have free entry so you can go and have a look around at all the loveliness for no charge.

My sister also has a website to sell her cute and lovely jewellery…please take a look at that too!

Lovely Online

Another reason to go to the fair is that I’ll be there! Yes, I’ll have my own stall selling handmade cards and knitted loveliness…would you like a sneak peek?

Aren’t knitted cupcakes so cute!

So, I have my work cut out for me…lots of things to knit, I hope people like them and that I manage to sell some of them! I know not all of you can get to the fair…how would you feel about me setting up a shop on my blog so that you can buy some of my lovely things?

Do let me know if you will be coming to the fair, it would be brilliant to meet some of you.

Lots of Love,

Kinki Amibari

“Whaa?”, I hear you cry, “What is that?”

Kinki Amibari is also known as KA and they make all kinds of knitting tools! See…not as bad as you were thinking 😉

The very lovely pinkfeather has an eBay shop that sells KA products (check it out here) asked if I would try out the KA interchangeable needles and let everyone know what they were like…so here goes!

I asked for 4mm tips (5 inches long…I know, I mix metric and imperial measurements…sorry) with a 36 inch cable.

I have so far used it to knit a couple of cupcakes

and I have started on a sweater for my dog!

The screw in tips are easy to use and even with my hands being quite sore at times, they were fine for me to screw in place (although I do find it tricky to unscrew them)

The bamboo needle tips are quite smooth and, compared to metal, it is much warmer on your hands…but I also found that in the heat wave we had for a day here in the UK the bamboo tips were cooler than metal and not as slippy…so good for all weathers!

I did find that the bamboo wasnt quite as smooth as the KnitPro Symfonie (wood) needles I have tried and the tips weren’t as pointy as I like…but those things were by the by. I imagine the light colour of the bamboo will be better for a lot of people than the random KnitPro colours.

The cable is good and I dunked it in hot water just to get the curl out of it, which worked a treat.

Overall, the needle was comfy to work with and the screw-in tips stayed put; I never once had an issue with them coming unscrewed.

Pinkfeather currently has an eBay shop that sells KA needles…but will be getting her own online shop at some point, you can keep up to date with that at her blog here.

In the UK, I have no idea of anywhere else that sells KA so it’s good to know!

Thanks pinkfeather!

Posh Yarn Competition Winner!!

Well, it’s that time already…the competition has finished and I just wanted to thank you all for reading the interview with the lovely Dee from Posh Yarn and for your competition entries. I certainly had fun reading all your yarn ideas.

Ok…time for the winner.

The lovely boy entered all the names into a random name picker and then pressed the button…

…and the winner is…

Congratulations George!

You will soon have your £15 Posh Yarn voucher…please confirm your email address first though (I will send you an email with the address you provided to make sure 😉 )

I really enjoyed the competition and the interview with Dee, I hope you all did too…and hopefully I’ll have another interview coming soon!

Lots of Love,

Ele ~X~

So, I had a lovely day

I promised I would tell you about my lovely day yesterday…so, here goes!

First of all, I slept through the night! Now, that may not sound like too big a deal but my sleep pattern is often backwards or very disturbed due to my illness so for me to go to sleep at the proper time, sleep through the night and wake up in the morning is a massive achievement for me!

So, I pottered around a little and then in the afternoon my lovely mummy, daddy and my little sister came to visit me! It was so nice to see them all, I miss them so much.

Milo was also excited to see them…so much so that he puked with excitement…not cool.

They brought me my favourite pasty that you can only get from a shop in south Bristol as well as some doughnuts and some shortbread from when hey were recently in Scotland. I gave the lovely sister a dinosaur I knitted (and forgot to take a photo of…d’oh!) and they all like the Christmas pudding I knitted (the Christmas pudding is going to be stock for the craft fair that my sister is organising for October…more details about that later along with photos of some of the stock i make).

When the lovely boy got home from work we all had a wander around in town and then went to the pub for a drink.

I was sad when they left for home but happy that we had such a lovely day and I was pretty worn out by t he time they left too so I had a lie down for a while….so did Milo.

Cute sleepy dogly 🙂

Also, a few days ago my lovely little sister got us tickets to go and see City and Colour in Cardiff in October! Yay!

Here is the the song ‘Fragile Bird’ from his latest album (which I just got and really like!)

Let me know what you think 🙂

Dont forget that the Posh Yarn competition is ending on the 30th June, that’s just four days from now! If you’d like to enter, please do so before the closing date…you can enter here. The winner will be drawn at random from all the entries received and will win a £15 voucher to spend at Posh Yarn! Awesome prize, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Speaking of Posh Yarn, they have a mystery sale this evening…you will not know what colours you are getting when you chose the yarn and all the yarn is discounted as they are ‘orphan’ skeins. I’m tempted by it because i love surprises! Let me know if you decide to buy, I would love to see what you get 😀

It’s a lovely sunny day here in Salisbury…so, here’s a postcard for you so that I can pretend i am on my holidays!

Hope you have a lovely weekend and make the most of the sunshine.

Lots of Love,

Ele ~X~

Some Sunday Loveliness

The weather here is not right for June, not at all…what is with all the rain?!

Anyway, seeing as it’s ‘nice weather for ducks’ I thought I would go with a duck-theme for today’s loveliness…enjoy!

First of all…a duck  on a duck…

*Quack!*

Next we have The Fat Duck

…the three Michelin star restaurant where Heston Blumenthal

…carries out his crazy food experiments.

I’d love to go there but it’s about £160 per person! Eep!

How about a glow in the dark rubber ducky instead?

*click picture for link to buy*

He costs £1.25 from Toyday and they do have lots of different duckies as well!

I’ve never had a rubber duck as far as I can remember…I might get me one!

This next one is for my dad seeing as it’s Fathers’ Day!

“I could dance with you till the cows come home. On second thought, I’d rather dance with the cows till you came home.”

Duck Soup starring the Marx Brothers…just for you, Daddy!

I love this next one…

By Margaret Zellner

How cute is that?! Knitted duck feet for babies…I wonder if I could make them for dog…hmm…

This is a free pattern by Margaret Zellner and if you click the picture above it will take you to the Ravelry page for it.

How about duck-shaped cookies?

*click for link*

This cute little cookie was made for a baby shower…but I’m sure it would do just as well at a duck-themed party 🙂

Hope you enjoyed the ducks!

Lots of Love,

Ele ~X~

Saturday’s Things I Love

Well the weekend is here. It doesn’t feel like it though because the lovely boy has to work. It means I can get some knitting done though!

Here is my list of loveliness for today;

Robins wearing flowers as hats

Free downloadable, printable roses (and other images!)

This fabric:

 New scrapbooking goodies

Floral shoes

Wollmeise yarn

*I want to go there!*

Strawberry daiquiri

*yumness*

All most lovely, I hope you agree.

Dont forget the Posh Yarn giveaway (you can find it here). It will be finishing at the end of June when the winner of the £15 Posh Yarn voucher will be drawn…exciting!

Have a lovely Saturday.

Lots of Love,

Ele ~X~
