Yay Cake!

Well, it’s a grey and rainy Saturday and we all need something to cheer us up I’m sure. So I found this picture of an amazing cake to do the job!

I really like those lop-sided cakes and this one has amazing colours!

Don’t forget to enter the Posh Yarn competition, if you havent done already. It finishes on the 30th June.

Tomorrow I shall be trying to remind you all that, yes, it is actually June and , yes, it should be summer!

Happy Saturday everyone!

All most lovely, I hope you agree.

Dont forget the Posh Yarn giveaway (you can find it here). It will be finishing at the end of June when the winner of the £15 Posh Yarn voucher will be drawn…exciting!

Have a lovely Saturday.

A change is as good as a rest

A few days ago my mum said to me that ‘a change is as good as a rest’. Do you agree? I thought I would try the theory out on my blog with a brand new layout and colour scheme! What do you think?

Well, I like it 🙂

So, the Posh Yarn update was on Sunday evening…so much gorgeous yarn! Tis was the one I picked…

It’s called ‘Female Of The Species’. I love the vibrant pink tones!

I also have my eye on this…

It’s called ‘Boleyn’ and it can be found at www.violetgreen.co.uk/

In other knitting news, I have now finished all the pieces of the hoody I am working on and am on to the hood! Then all I have to do is sew it up. I’m so excited about it as it is the biggest thing I have ever knitted so far!

Here’s a quick plug for Lovely Online who make gorgeous jewellery at competitive prices. Here’s an example…

…isn’t it gorgeous!

The Product Of Loveliness giveaway will be ending this week so don’t forget to enter if you havent already!

And keep an eye out here for some exciting new happenings!

Happy things on a less than happy day

Ok…not having a good day at all…make that a good week…or even month now I think about it. I told you all about my M.E. on M.E. awareness day (see this post) and it’s that which is causing me such huge amounts of pain and extreme fatigue…I havent been out of my bed for a long while and it’s really getting to me now. So, because of this, I decided it’s time for a lovely cheery post! 😀

First of all we have this…

It is the most gorgeous yarn is oranges and yellows…it’s from Posh Yarn (they are my favourite!) and the colourway is called ‘If You’re Happy And You Know It’…brilliant name!

Next we have…

Dogs explore new way to hug

Cant beat a couple of dogs hugging to cheer you up! (Thank you to my lovely sister who sent me this picture)

Third we have…

…a very cheerful cake! Cake always cheers me up at this one looks so happy and bright!

Don’t forget about the competition too! You still have time to comment on the competition post to enter…it runs until the end of May. So many goodies are on offer…the current list is: metal, hanging heart decoration, striped A4 notebook, a big bag of sweets, cupcake printed doilies.

If more comments are posted then it means more will be added to the prize! And I have something awesome to be added next if enough comments are reached!

I shall leave you with this…

Another Posh Yarn arrival in purples, blues, greens and dark pink. It’s Martha DK yarn which is 80% merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon…and the colour is called ‘Talk Like A Pirate’. Seeing as I do actually talk like a pirate, this is the perfect yarn for me!

Stay lovely.

Some Lovely Bits and Bobs

*cute*

I had a lovely weekend. Met up with a friend, had Sunday lunch, went to a pub right by the river…thats where I took that picture of the cute table and chairs. We even saw a little water vole swimming up and down.

That’s the back of a hoody I’m knitting…it’s the biggest project I have attempted so far and it’s going really well! I’m using chunky yarn (Stylecraft Special chunky for anyone who’s interested) so it is knitting up pretty fast.

thank you Emma!

This cactus is the one that Emma got me when I moved here. It’s flowering so well and is really happy it’s new, bigger pot.

We still have sunny weather here, even though it has gone a bit chillier…I’m so happy to have sunny days and longer evenings.

Lots of Love,

Sunday Stuff

It’s Sunday evening, the sunset is red and gold and orange, the birds are chirping and I have some lovely things to show you.

This arrived yesterday! All of them are 100% alpaca and they are sooo soft.

So this is what I’m doing with it…

Shhhush! This one is a secret...

It’s a scarf for my Mama for Mother’s day! I’m using this pattern. It’s a free one 🙂

And…I wound that ball of yarn by hand from the skein. First time I’ve ever done that.

I took a close up so you can see the waviness a bit better…

Isn’t it pretty! I hope my Mama likes it…don’t tell her though!

Then I’ll be knitting a scarf for the lovely boy’s mum too.

My lovely boy has been good to me today…

*yum*

And I received a book yesterday that I bought with Amazon vouchers I got from doing surveys 😉 It’s called ‘Socks from the toe up‘ by Wendy D. Johnson.

So that’s the toe of a sock started! These will be for me as they are a bit of a practise at doing toe up socks…the next socks I make will be for Miss S when she finally gives me her foot measurements and I give her the choices of yarn to pick from!

Lots of Love,

More woolly stuff

So…you know I like knitting right?

Love you too, knitting

Thats my current project…it may not look like much now but it will eventually be a sock…and not just any sock, my first sock!

My first time knitting ‘in the round’ too…there are a lot of needles to contend with but I think I’ve got the hang of it now.

I’m also working on two secret projects…so, a lot of knitting going on…plus I’m already planning future projects. I got me some baby wool to knit some little, tiny clothes with to give to charity (one lot of pink tones and one lot of blue), I also bought some gorgeous Noro Sekku yarn in green/plum/blue…it’s beautiful and contains silk. I tried to take a photo but with no daylight it didn’t look very good, so I’ll try again tomorrow 🙂

In the mean while, look at this…it’s knitted with that same type of yarn.

Pattern by Cheri McEwen

This shawl was knitted by a Ravelry.com user called ‘Merchantofvino’…it’s so beautiful! I wish I could knit like that…maybe one day.

Lots of Love,

Ele ~X~
